This morning I was randomly awaken by the ringing of my cell phone. Thinking it was a friend, I pressed answer and sheepishly grumbled a hello. That was when the female voice on the other line cheerfully responded with a "喂，你说中文吗?" Confused, tired and not in a state to speak in Mandarin, I said hello once again. Unfazed by my English response, she repeated her previous question. At this point, I began to get slightly irritated and asked, "Who is this?" However, after saying that, she hurriedly muttered sorry in English and hung up. I have 2 questions: 1) Who calls someone to ask if they speak Chinese? and 2) Where did she get my number?
