Smile Because It's Contagious?

Growing up, I thought smiling was a sign of friendliness and making eye contact was a sign of respect; however, as I was reading AskAKorean, I discovered that Koreans in general think that
a) you smile because you are "inherently stupid" or
b) you look at them because you like them in "that way"
which leads me to the question, Did I smile too often in Korea?
